Water Consumption

Hello Fit Girls!

I thought we should talk a little bit about water consumption. I know we all have heard that we should be drinking 8 cups of water per day. The fact of the matter is everyone’s water intake will be different. There are many factors that play a roll including your current weight, how active you are, and your health.

Well how much water should I be drinking then? Although I cannot give you an exact number I can help you find your number. This will be a tedious task for the first couple of days but it will help so much with your health and fitness goals.

Common Myths About Water Consumption:

First off, upon waking up in the morning drink 1 cup of water. After being asleep for so many hours, your body does get dehydrated. This will help you re-hydrate, boost your metabolism and jump start your internal organs. Experts say 16 ounces of water but I have found it hard to drink all of that upon waking (this will vary per person). Drink one cup of water 30 minutes before and after each meal. This helps your body digest better and may also help curb your appetite. Drink 8 ounces of water one hour before going to bed. Some experts say 8 ounces right before bed but I modified this according to my body (because I hate waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom). Water before bed is said to avoid heart attack or stroke. By following these steps, you’ll easily get four cups of water per day.

You can adjust anything you need to if it is not working for you. During the day or between meals make sure to drink water. When going to workout drink a cup of water half an hour before and half an hour after. Keep a water bottle close by to drink during your workout.

For the first couple of days I want you to keep track of how many ounces of water you drink. Again, this will vary per person. Pay close attention to how you feel during the day as well. Nausea, headache and disorientation may be signs of overhydration. Dry mouth, weakness, dizziness, and sluggishness may be signs of dehydration. If needed, jot down notes as to how you feel on the same sheet you keep track of the ounces you drink. After a couple of days you should be able to find how many ounces you should be drinking.

Team Beachbody: New Coach

Hi again!

I have some exciting news! Yesterday I signed up to become a beachbody coach. I know I’m far from having a “beach body” but I have been participating in the 21 day fix for a few months now. Each time we complete a cycle we take a break for a couple days and then we jump back into it.
