I’m baaaack!

These past few months I’ve been in somewhat of a planner rut. My decorative planning has been on and off, as in on one week and three weeks off. As you can see, I neglected my blog and posted a bit here and there on Instagram.

Part of the issue had to do with work and feeling completely drained by the time I got home. Reason being, I was promoted at work and I was just getting into the groove of my new work load.

I finally feel like I’ve got it under control and I’m ready to get back into the planner world. I’ve slowly started planning again and I feel so much more like myself. I hope to keep the momentum going and get back into planning meet ups and other planner related activities as well.

Planning 101: 19 Ways to use a Planner

Most people who buy a planner love the customization of ring bound systems, as well as arc and spiral bound systems. One planner leads to another planner and before you know it, you have a collection of planners. Some people choose to use one at a time and switch between planners depending on the month or season. If you prefer to put your planners to work instead of leaving them on a shelf, I have put together a list of ways to put those planners to use.

  1. Inspiration Binder – Use this binder to store inspirational quotes, ideas, magazine or newspaper clippings. Write a paragraph here or there when you see something you like. You can include anything you like.
  2. Health and Fitness log – With the New Year right around the corner, what better way to track your health and fitness goals than in a planner? Log your goals and your progress as you go along. Kikki-K also has an article on how to make your planner into a Wellness Binder.
  3. Gratitude Binder- Create a planner for you to write something that you are grateful for. You can write daily, weekly or as often as you choose.
  4. Blog Planning – Keep track of ideas and due dates in this planner. Plan time ahead and schedule posts. This comes in very handy, especially when going on a vacation or when life takes you somewhere unexpected.
  5. Home Planner – In your home planner, Alexis from Strange and Charmed suggests keeping important documents such as insurance, warranties, etc. You can also use this as a main planner to keep appointments and important dates for the family.
  6. Meal planning – Figuring out what’s for dinner everyday can be a bit stressful, especially when working. Plan your meals ahead so you have one less thing to worry about each day.
  7. Journaling – You can jot down things you did or write a page or two describing the details of your day. Some people who have tried journaling started off with trying to write everyday which could be a bit overwhelming. Start your journaling off slow, here are a few ways for you to get started. Here is an example of how to get a journal started.
  8. Financial Planner – Many people struggle with keeping their finances in check. Start the year off right with a financial planner. Track spending, income and bills.
  9. Video Planning – For those of you with YouTube channels, use a Video planner to track the videos you’ve done, plan on when to make new ones and keep yourself on track.
  10. School – Use a school binder to keep track of assignments, due dates, classes and contacts of you partners and your professors/teachers.
  11. Address Book- Gather all those address pages that you’ve never used and put them into one binder so it’s easily accessible if anything were to happen to your phone.
  12. Church – Use a planner for writing down notes from service, jotting down your own ideas or interpretations, or as a bible journal.
  13. Scrapbook – Keep track of special events by decorating pages in your planner. You can do this directly on the weekly pages or on blank sheets of notepaper.
  14. Wedding planner – Have a wedding coming up? Use a planner to keep track of your guest lists, budget, bridal party, groomsmen, and all the people who help you along the way. Later you can look back on this and even share it with your children.
  15. Notebook – You can use a planner as a notebook for multiple categories. Photography, brain dumps, sports, or just to jot down an idea here or there.
  16. Travel – Keep track of all the places your visit while you travel. Store your train tickets, plane tickets, and stubs for all the places you visit. You can later add these to a scrapbook or a journal.
  17. Vehicle – Keep a planner in your car to keep track of battery changes, tire changes, accidents, payment and anything else related to the upkeep of your vehicle. This also makes it a lot easier if you ever plan to sell your vehicle.
  18. Storage – When you’ve finished using your insert, store the pages in a planner that you are no longer using.
  19. Wallet – Pocket and personal size planners are the best sizes to use as a wallet. Keep your important cards such as your license, and credit cards in the side pockets. Use business card holders to carry the rest of your store rewards cards and anything else that you would carry in your wallet. Here is an idea of how to turn your planner into a wallet.

If you have any other ideas, I’d would love to hear them. Or if you have a picture to share of how you’re using all your planners, please leave a comment below.

Planning on a Budget: DIY Ribbon Clips

Hello Planner Lovers!

Planner clips are an easy way to mark pages you need easy access to. Instead of using plain old paperclips, I thought it would be fun to share with you all how you can decorate your very own clips with ribbon or string you have lying around the house.

If you don’t have ribbon, you can find them by the spools at practically any store. I know Walmart carries them for as little as $0.98 per spool.

The first clip I’d like to share is the most common and you’ve probably seen them in people’s planners before. All you need is about six to eight inches of ribbon and a paperclip. You can use one or more colors depending on your liking. This clip is so simple and easy to make you’ll find yourself wondering why you haven’t made them before.

The next ribbon clip is a bit more complex but almost as easy. For this you need a six inch piece of ribbon, a paperclip of course and a little bit of thread. Click the photo for step by step instructions on how to make that cute bow paperclip.

Have any other ideas on how to utilize ribbon to make a paperclip? Leave a comment below to share your idea with everyone!

Oahu Planner Girls present Oahu Planner Con

On August 13, 2016, Oahu Planner Girls hosted our very first Oahu Planner Con. The event was held at Kaka’ako Agora from 10:00am-4:00pm. Vendors began setting up and people began lining up for OPG Kits as early as 8:30am.

Untitled 2

We had 25 vendors at the event. Yes, twenty five!

There were planner shops, scrapbook shops, food and drink stations, clothing booths and much, much more.

Once we opened up, people started flowing in. We had all sorts of people come through, babies, children, teens, moms, dads, grandmas, planners and non planners. Throughout the day people came and went. Shops sold tons of products and we even had one shop sell out, how amazing is that?

As people came in and paid their admission, they were given a raffle ticket. We pulled numbers on the hour, every hour and gave away over 25 prizes throughout the event. At the end of the day, we tallied up the tickets and we had over 400 raffle tickets left. We sold a few tickets during the event and did not count the numbers we pulled while calling out prizes therefore, we estimated close to 400 people came through.

Throughout the day we had a few workshops set up as well. We started off at 10:15 am with Tyra of @tjt.designs. She hosted two workshops, the other was at 11:15 am. Next we had a giveaway by Cinch from 12:30-1:30 pm. They gave away a Long Camel Obi belt to everyone who followed them on Instagram. At 2:00 pm we had Michelle of xo.mamaplans stop by to talk story with those who purchased our VIP Package. After that we finished the event with a resin charm workshop from Joy of The Joy of Crafting at Ben Franklin.

Reading: Since I began catching the bus to and from work again, I plan on reading a few books from my favorite author, Nicholas Sparks.

Making: 21 Day Fix tracker and plan. Beginning January 25, 2016 I will start another 21 Day Fix. For now I am making inserts for my planner until I get started.

New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a blast celebrating with your family and friends, I know I did.

Now that we are starting a new year, most people have begun thinking about what resolution they will try to stick to this year. In order to figure out what I would like to stick to this year I did a brain dump and listed everything that came to mind. After writing all this down I went over my list and instead of choosing just one, I decided that I wanted to accomplish them all!

My Goals for 2016 are:
-Familiarize myself with the Bible
-Take a two week vacation somewhere outside of Hawaii
-Move into our own place
-Pay off 50% of our debt and have less than $800 a month by August (not including rent)
-Post to my blog, eight times a month minimum, and YoutTube, once a week minimum.
-Lose at least 60 lbs in 2016 (5 lbs per month / starting weight 220lbs)
-Cut back on Social Media, limit one hour per day not including blogging, filming, etc.
-Spend more time with family and friends

Since I have been neglecting my blog and in turn my readers, I am committing to getting this blog back on track. Though I started out with crafting and planning in mind, I will be expanding my blog to other topics such as ones listed in my resolutions.

As for how I plan to accomplish these, since my goals differ from each other, I will have to focus on one at a time. My main goal is to stay organized because without organization, none of my goals will be met.

In order to familiarize myself with the Bible, I am doing a few challenges which take about 15 minutes each to complete. I will be setting aside some time each day to work on these challenges. Hopefully by doing this I will form a habit of setting time aside to read and reflect on verses form the Bible.

Moving into our own place and paying off 50% of our debt kind of coincide. We are living with family to help us get back on our feet. Hopefully once we pay off half our debt, we will be able to find our own place.

In order to lose weight I will be eating healthier and working out more. By cutting the time I spend on Social Media I will have much more free time. This will allow me to not only to spend more time with family and friends but it will also give me more time during the day to get a workout in.

Finally, this year I hope to go on an actual vacation. Whether it be a cruise or visiting a different state. I have only every visited the different islands in Hawaii. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the Islands but I think a change of scenery would be nice.

I would love to hear about how you plan to conquer 2016! Feel free to share your resolutions in the comments below and your strategies if you’d like to share that too!
